I just wanted to tell everyone how much I like the Hitachi Cordless 14.4-volt Driver Drill Kit with Flashlight. I purchased mine several years ago and use it all the time. That is a testimony to its' rugged construction and durability. I am retired now from working in a Diesel Repair Body Shop, now I have my own Carpentry Shop and I purchased that Home Hitachi Tool because of the lightweight (3.3 lbs), well balanced, ergonomic, fatigue reducing design with little vibration. Although most of my tools were pneumatic and heavy there are many tight places that those tools would not fit.

The 3/8" key-less chuck is also very handy for quick changing of the bits, making less unnecessary ups and downs for bits to do the job more efficiently. Another great feature is the 22-position clutch you can set for exactly the correct screw depth to be sure you won't damage the part or wood product.

The Hitachi Cordless 14.4-volt Driver Drill Kit with Flashlight has a class-leading 230 in/lbs torque. Its' two-speed transmission has an easy to use one-touch speed knob for tougher jobs that require more torque from 0-350 or 0-1050 rpm. The Batteries seem to last along time, of course the harder the job the sooner it runs down but I'm quite please with the amount of work I can get done before I have to change out the battery.

The Flashlight that comes with this kit proved also to be a great addition to my tool chest. It has several positions the light can be set to make the angle of light just right.

Visit any construction job site and you're likely to see at least one miter saw being used at any given moment. And most likely, it's going to be yellow in color. DeWalt miter saws are, far and away, the most popular among contractors. But the question is, why? Are they the only ones that do the job well? Or are they better than all the rest?

When buying power tools you obviously want to get the best value for your money whether that be discount power tools, very special offers or just maybe factory reconditioned power tools. Whether you use powers tools every day as part of your work or you just require DIY tools for more occasional use the reconditioned power tools retailer is worth searching for. If you are purchasing power tools as reconditioned power tools then very often the only difference you'll be aware of is the word - Reconditioned - written on the packaging. You'll even get the same manufacturer warranty that you would with your new power tools. Sometimes the factory reconditioned maybe described as factory outlet stock.

Most of the major manufacturers supply reconditioned products but sometimes they will be restricted to a select number of retailers or dealers. Some retailers are specialist suppliers of factory reconditioned tools only. Some manufacturers don't like to have their regular higher priced power tools available for sale in the same tool retailer feeling that the reconditioned units will undermine the sales of the regular products. Can you imagine the questions being asked about the pricing and the difference between the 2 identical looking products one of which maybe half the price of the other one!

How to Change the Brushes in Makita's BDF452 Cordless Drill

Just as each day will surely turn into night, every industrial power drill will eventually require a carbon brush replacement. This, however, is certainly not something to fret over, a brush replacement is quite simple and replacing the brushes in a Makita BDF452 cordless drill only requires a few simple steps before your drill is back in fighting form.

First, because all brushes are not universal, you'll want to ensure you are replacing your old brushes with the correct brush set. The BDF452 requires Makita's 194427-5 brush set. You also want to be certain before you begin any kind of tinkering with the drill, that it is absolutely and in all possible fashions turned "off."

Next, you simply have to locate and remove your brushes. At the rear of your drill there will be a rear cover. This is a dome-shaped piece of the housing (or clamshell) that can be removed without removing the remainder of the tool's housing. Unscrewing the rear cover will directly reveal the brushes. Keep in mind as you dismantle any part of the tool that all things will have to be reassembled. Be focused and organized to ensure you can put all things back together properly.

Beneath the rear cover the brushes will be tucked into their guide sleeves. Be cautious to insert them in the same orientation in which the old ones were removed and ensure that they are making complete contact with the armature's commutator bars. Now, simply reverse the dismantling process and put the drill securely back together - this should really only require re-securing the rear cover.

Once all parts are snug and and in their proper places test out the drill's functions to ensure everything is in perfect working order. If all functions are functioning then you have met success with that brush replacement and you are good to go. If, however, all things don't check out so well, re-remove the rear cover to ensure the brushes are fully contacting the armature and that they are oriented properly. If you don't find any mistakes and the drill still doesn't meet your performance expectations, you should take the tool to an authorized Makita repair center for a professional inspection.
